As a podcast coach, the question I get most is how to grow the podcast. One can do this in a few ways, but I want to take it back to basics before I answer. I want you to ask yourself, why did you start your podcast? What are the goals you want to achieve with the podcast? And what is your vision for the podcast? Once you get these questions answered, you’ll know deep down why you want to grow your podcast.
I’m not saying anything is wrong with wanting to grow your podcast, but too many people think that growing a podcast is the way to fast, easy money. However, like everything else, growing your podcast takes time and consistency.
Today, I want to give three ways you can grow your podcast: be a guest on other podcasts, engage with your audience, and have a call to action. Alright, let’s dive into each one.

Be a Guest on Other Podcasts
One of the best ways to grow your podcast is visibility. If people don’t know about your podcast, they won’t listen to it. So, appearing on other podcasts to talk about your show is one of the best ways to grow.
Usually, when you’re a guest on another podcast, you have one or two topics you talk about with two to three takeaways. At the end of the show, the podcast guest will provide time for you to promote your podcast, business, or any service you’d like.
If you’d like to learn how to get on podcasts, I have an email template available that I can email to you so you can pitch yourself to shows.
Engage With Your Audience
There are different ways to engage with your audience. If you host your podcast on Spotify, they have polls you can include with each episode, and your audience can leave you a voice message.
Another way to engage with your audience is to tell them to leave a review on Apple podcast, and you can read those reviews out loud in the show. That way, you can give your listeners a shout-out.
Lastly, you can have them send you questions via email or social media, and you can answer them on the show. Have a little segment about this.
Call to Action
The most important thing each episode should have, and it will help you grow your show, is to have a call to action at the end of each episode. Whatever it is you want your listeners to do – tell them at the end of the episode. If you want them to follow you on social media, tell them. You may want them to sign up for your newsletter; tell them. Or it could be to leave a review or rating.
But since the number one way people find out about podcasts is by recommending them, tell your listeners to share the episode with a friend or two.
