Have you ever created a vision board? If so, it was probably a lifestyle one where you had visions for different areas of your life. Or maybe it was one for your business, but did you know you could create one for your podcast? Yes! Today, I will share how to create a vision board for your podcast. And I will share a digital vision board template with you so you can create your own vision board!

But first, let’s talk about what a vision board is and its purpose. A vision board is a visual representation of your goals, desires, and aspirations. It usually consists of pictures and words that reflect the future you want to create. They can be made physically with a poster board or digitally with Pinterest or Canva.

The purpose of vision boards is to have a tangible way of clarifying your intentions and seeing the things you are working towards. For example, they help you clarify your goals, stay motivated, manifest your desires, and track your progress.

When it comes to podcasting, vision boards can help podcasters visualize the show’s potential, such as increasing listenership, interviewing dream guests, and achieving sponsorships.

Since starting my podcast, I’ve written down specific podcasting goals, and I’ve been able to reach them every year. This is why I want to help you create your digital podcasting vision board so you can reach your podcasting goals this year!

Why You Need a Vision Board for Your Podcast

Creating a vision board will help you narrow down your podcast goals and mission. It can help you stay motivated and focused on your podcast objectives. Also, seeing your vision board is a reminder of what you’re working towards.

Some examples of podcast goals would be increasing downloads, increasing engagement, launching podcast merch, or securing sponsorships.

Preparing to Create Yours

First, reflect on your podcast goals:

  • Short-term goals (for example, are you looking to release a certain amount of episodes?)
  • Long-term goals (for example, increase global ranking or win a podcast award)

Gather Inspiration:

  • Where do you see your podcast in 6 months, 1 Year, and 5 years?
  • Consider branding, your mission, audience engagement, and collaborations.

Choose your materials:

  • If doing a physical board: poster board, magazines, images, glue, tape, and scissors.
  • For a digital board, you’ll need access to Canva, Pinterest, or Google Slides.

Some Ideas of What to Include on Your Podcast Vision Board

  1. Podcast Branding
    • Stay consistent with your brand and include your logo, color palette, and preferred style.
  2. Growth Metrics
    • Download numbers, subscribers, or engagement.
  3. Content Goals
    • Guests, series ideas, maybe be a guest on other podcasts
  4. Engagement Goals
    • Community-building strategies, hosting an event, launching a newsletter for the podcast
  5. Financial Goals
    • Sponsorships, booking speaking events, or launching merch

Putting Your Vision Board Together

First, you want to set the scene! Make sure you block out time on your calendar so you’re not interrupted. Set aside between one to two hours for this. Have inspirational music playing in the background, or maybe listen to your favorite motivational podcast.

When I hosted a vision board event a few years ago, I created a playlist with inspirational songs, and I still listen to the playlist from time to time.

Next, you’ll write down your goals and find images that resonate with your goals. Afterward, you’ll want to organize your visuals by theme or category. You can add affirmations and motivational quotes throughout your vision board. Use words of encouragement that are specific to your podcasting journey.

Lastly, using the physical board, you’ll put everything together by gluing, taping, or pinning.

Using It Effectively

Place your vision board where you’ll see it every day whether that is in your home office, where you record your podcast, or in your bedroom. If you’re doing a digital one, place it as your mobile wallpaper, your lock screen, or your desktop background.

Review it regularly to stay focused and inspired. Check-in with yourself every quarter to make sure you’re taking steps to reach your goals. If you’re not taking steps, evaluate why not and what you are doing instead of working towards your goals.

Revisit and update your vision board as your goals evolve. Yes, you can change and update your podcast vision board as the year goes on. You’ll not tied to these specific goals but you want to make sure that you’re doing this with intentionality.

Conclusion

Creating a vision board is a powerful tool to help you reach your podcasting goals. There is power in visualizing your goals, where you want to be, and what you want to achieve because your mind will start looking for those opportunities, and you’ll attract what you want. Stay intentional. Lastly, you can share your vision board with me if you’d like for accountability. 🙂

As a gift for being in this podcast coaching community, I created a digital podcast vision board template; all you have to do is replace the goals and pictures with your goals and pictures that align with them, download it, and put it as your phone’s background.
