List of Evergreen Marketing Strategies

A few weeks ago, I shared an article about the importance of an evergreen marketing strategy, and today, I want to share a list of three evergreen marketing strategies. This also comes on the heels of the drama with TikTok being banned and content creators being stressed about their earnings from the app. Which are valid concerns, but this also brings up my point about not solely relying on social media or short-form content for marketing purposes.

All of the evergreen marketing strategies I’ll share today can be used for all types of online presences. Whether you’re a writer, author, independent journalist, podcaster, or online business. It’s extremely important not to have your eggs all in one basket; diversify your marketing and diversify your income!

Let’s start.

First on the List of Evergreen Marketing Strategies

Blogging! Contrary to popular belief, blogging isn’t dead. Blogs started in the late 1990s, became popular in the 2000s, and are still thriving 30 years later. As long as people search for questions online, blogs will still be relevant. So, here are two reasons why blogging is an evergreen marketing strategy.

  1. Blogs stay relevant with timeless topics.

For example, this article will be relevant for years because evergreen marketing is timeless.

  1. SEO-rich blogs will help achieve long-term visibility.

SEO or search engine optimization is why articles appear when looking for something online.

You can create evergreen blog content by focusing on “how to” guides, tutorials, or industry tips. For example, the articles I provide for podcasting tips are mostly evergreen blog posts. And if there are any drastic changes in podcasting, I’ll update the article to make it relevant. This is a standard practice for blogging – one should update old articles for relevance.

One of the most significant advantages of blogging is the organic traffic it drives to your website. Visitors can review your services, digital products, and podcasts on your website and learn more about you.

Another advantage of blogging is that the more articles you publish, the more you’ll be established as an expert in your industry. Lastly, you can encourage engagement with your readers through comments and by having them share your articles.

Second on the List of Evergreen Marketing Strategies

Pinterest! Pinterest ties in with blogging because you can use Pinterest to promote your blog posts with pins and drive traffic to your website! However, the main reason why Pinterest is an evergreen marketing strategy is that the pins can drive traffic to your website for years. For example, I had a pin for a blog post I published in 2021 that brought in the most traffic for a few years, but now it’s another one I wrote more recently. But I’ve seen creators say they’ve had a pin bring in traffic for over eight years! Think about that – you create a pin once, and it can bring you traffic for almost 10 years!

One of the downfalls of Pinterest is that you have to post pins constantly to gain traction, and it can take a while to start seeing results. Some people get discouraged and give up before they do.

Pinterest is excellent marketing for DYI, food, travel, and personal development.

Third on the List of Evergreen Marketing Strategies

Podcasting! Think of podcasting as an audio blog because you can turn your blog posts into podcast episodes and vice versa, which is something I’ve written about before. Podcast episodes can be found for years to come, just like blog posts, and interviews are also relevant.

You can create evergreen content with podcasting, like blogging, focusing on “how to” guides, tutorials, or industry tips—and adding interviews with industry experts to the mix. Optimize your podcast episode titles and show notes relevant to your keywords so listeners can find your episodes and show. Lastly, repurposing your episodes will help, too. If you write blog posts for each episode, market it on Pinterest, and you’re using all three of these evergreen marketing strategies.

There are many benefits to having a podcast, but the biggest one is that you own your RSS feed, so you own your podcast. It’s not borrowed online real estate like social media is. And I mention this again because of the recent drama with TikTok.

Conclusion

Social media isn’t the only way to create content online, and evergreen marketing strategies have a longer-term effect than social media and short-form content. Choose one strategy that aligns with your goals, and/or you can combine all three as I do.
