One of the most frequent questions I get from clients as a podcast coach is how to market their podcasts. I have a list in my stan store for 30 different ways, but today I want to share the top three ways to market your podcast without social media.

Recently, I’ve seen a trend of podcasters steering away from social media to market their podcasts and using other methods, so let’s talk about a few.

1. Word of Mouth

This is the most powerful way to market your podcast—talking about it with everyone and anyone and having your listeners share episodes with friends and family. I mean, think about it. How did you come across the podcasts you listen to? Most of them were recommendations from a friend, or I saw the podcaster at an event – which I’ll get to in a moment.

No one will know you have one if you don’t talk about your podcast. For example, I was in Michigan a few weeks ago, and my brother-in-law’s friend stopped by to say hi. We talked, and I learned he was of Mexican descent and was born in Texas. So, I got curious about how he ended up in Michigan and asked a few questions. At one point, I told my husband I thought he would be good for my podcast, so I told him about my podcast and that I would love for him to be a guest. He then told me his son had a podcast, too! I followed his son’s podcast and gave him the information for mine. But talking to people and sharing that you have a podcast can expand your reach.

Networking events, summits, webinars, or being a guest on other podcasts, really anything that can help you get in front of others will help you grow your podcast. People will know about you, check your bio, and follow you. The more people you get in front of and the more people you come across, the more your reach will expand!

2. Blogging

I wrote about three ways to repurpose podcast episodes, one of which was turning the episodes into blog posts. Marketing your podcast on your website with blog posts is helpful because as you optimize for SEO, people can find your show on Google. Keep in mind that Google is the number one search engine.

Also, with blogging, you don’t have to worry about the consistent change in social media algorithms. And despite what other people are throwing out there, blogging isn’t dead and won’t die anytime soon. Have your audience come to you through Google!

3. MissingLettr

I’ve recently learned of Missinglettr, a marketing platform that helps create a year’s worth of marketing campaigns for blog posts! So, let’s say you create a blog post for each episode; Missinglettr will take that post, generate captions with images within your post, and every few days, it will publish a post with the link to different social media platforms.

Currently, I have it set up to publish on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google Business. If you use the link above to sign up, Missinglettr will give you and me a $50 credit. If you have any questions about Missinglettr, let me know in the comments or email me at Heidy@heidydelacruz.com

I hope you found this post helpful and have new ideas to market your podcast without social media – if so, consider sharing it with a friend and signing up for my newsletter, where I share all my blogs.
